About 2 months ago my sister, Renee, and I were bored on a Saturday afternoon. (My sister is living with us for a little while.) Renee kept saying how Philip and I should get a puppy. We kept telling her that we weren't ready to get a dog yet. We wanted one, but wanted to repair the fence in our backyard before we got one. Well on this particular Saturday I got the idea to go visit the local animal shelter just for fun. I honestly had no intention of coming home with a dog. Renee and I managed to drag Philip along with us.
Well, we got there and started walking around looking at all the dogs. It was so sad to see them all locked up in their little cages. We picked out about 2 or 3 that we wanted to get to meet in the "petting room." There was one in particular Philip and I both liked, but it had barked at us pretty loudly when we walked by. That made us a little nervous to meet him, but he was the most beautiful dog!
Well, it only took about 5 minutes with him in the petting room before we realized we wanted to take him home right then and there! Philip was actually the one that suggested it first! I couldn't believe that it only took this dog 5 minutes to work his way into Philip's heart. We ended up filling out the paperwork to adopt him that day! We had to wait until our paperwork was approved before we could take him home. A few days later they called to tell us that he has heart worms, but would split the cost of treatment if we would still be willing to adopt him. Philip quickly said yes.
So we went from not being ready to get a dog to adopting a 2 year old dog with heart worms! He most definitely has stolen our hearts. The shelter thinks he is a Siberian Husky/Australian Shepherd mix. Here are some pictures of Copper:
We love him very much. He is my shadow while I am home. He literally follows me everywhere! He can be in the deepest sleep, but will wake up the instant I get off the couch to go do something. It is kind of cute. Now that we have him, I don't know what we ever did without a dog!

Yay! I'm so happy for y'all! Dogs are the absolute BEST - especially inside dogs. They really do become part of the family... And Copper is beautiful. So glad for you guys!!!
